Perhaps a Viper GTS? I don’t know. 1999 Dakota R/T (Though I’d really just want the engine for my ‘96.) There’s not much from 1999 I’d actually want. 1969, on the other hand....

Born in malaise era. Nothing good attainable, as they were built in such rarity. Maybe a 928? Or a 911 turbo beat to shit that will quickly kill me ass first in a tree.

Damn young people. In any event, enjoy it now, prices will go back up as these things get older. In any event, I’d have to be buying an Esprit or perhaps a DMC-12. Can’t find any of either from my birth year for sale, but looks like around $20-$50k for the former and $25-$80k for the latter which is attainable if not wise.

The one above was on BaT a while back for under $20k, but more like $40 would be more normal. If we’re reaching a bit further, maybe a V8 Volante - more in the $100k range.

Attainable, though. I’m also a 1970 product. From what I see, the most readily-attainable car (I put a price limit of $7500 CDN) that would still be a nice driver looks like the Skylark.

Kinja'd!!! fintail > JR1
06/23/2017 at 09:47

Kinja'd!!!0

Depends on the definition of attainable and dream. 6.9s are still relatively inexpensive vs their original price and complexity - just don’t restore it yourself, you’ll always be under water:

Kinja'd!!!

These were once attainable, does that count?

Kinja'd!!!

Same story here, once pretty cheap for what they are:

Kinja'd!!!

Not attainable, but the older ones are the purest:

Kinja'd!!!

Money pit but endless style for the money:

Kinja'd!!!

In the real world, these are maybe cooler than they are given credit for:

Kinja'd!!!

Also on that, Smokey style Trans Ams, disco Corvettes, etc.

I was born when peak malaise was within sight.

I already own one, although it’s not a GS-R. Plus I wish it was a ‘96 so it would have OBDII.

Then I guess, although it’s not attainable to me right now, would be a 1st gen NSX.

I will begrudgingly take part. My two best options would be either a Mercedes 450sl or a Land Cruiser. With the land cruiser quickly getting to where decent ones are barely attainable. Why do I say begrudgingly? Because I was born in 1980 and just as a glimpse of the available options this made a list ranking the 6 best looking cars from 1980.

thanks, mine is SUPER short. i put the cab of a silverado onto the frame of a k5 blazer, and then chopped out the extra from a step side bed(the step). i havent seen any others like it(in person). it had a decently built 350, when i had first gotten done putting it together, but the guy that i got the engine from(buddy deal) had killed a cam in it, and got rid of it to me for “not much” i cleaned out the guts of the engine, best i could, and converted it to a roller set up. BUT the engine had already hurt its rod bearings. i got a few DOZEN really fun miles out of it with that engine......and then it proceeded to stack its rod bearings. i caught it in time to save the block and crank, but it was still frustrating. i put together a “place holder 350" a nothing special stock engine, and have been wringing the miles out of it.. it isnt the ridiculous monster that i had originally put together, but it is still quick, and is a ton of fun around corners. now that all the major bugs been wrung out of it, should be good for a long time coming.......

Kinja'd!!! JR1 > Die-Trying
06/23/2017 at 19:04

Kinja'd!!!1

The great thing about a 350 is parts are plentiful and common so if you ever want to get a little more power out of it there is always a way. Surprised a truck corners on rails but definitely cool!

Kinja'd!!! Die-Trying > JR1
06/23/2017 at 19:18

i was surprised that the truck could corner too. there is enough tire there, and the truck has a fulltime 4x4 transfer case, with a differential inside it. the truck just pulls itself through the corners. its also just low enough at its stock height, that it isnt tipsy..

the nice thing is that old trucks just dont seem to go out of style....
